As compare to Hard disk drive, SSD performs better in terms of speed and performance not only this but also SSD consumes low energy as compare to hard disk drive but SSD's  are Expensive as compare to hard disk drives.

So According to me if you want Speed & performance you can install SSD in your desktop/laptop..
Nowadays laptops come with SSD preinstalled so if you are buying a new laptop just ask the vendor does it has SSD preinstall in it..
so if you have decided to buy an SSD for your desktop/laptop just check read/write speed of  SSD that matters a lot and also do check that if you have an extra slot to insert SSD or be ready to replace Hard disk drive with SSD , in fewer laptops you can install SSD and HDD simultaneously...
